This is the second book in a series I am reading. At the center of the storm is Guenevere, torn between her love for her husband, her people, and Sir Lancelot of the Lake. It's kind of disappointing to see such an interesting character in the very beginning of the series become a co-dependent, irrationally jealous, insipid, and thoroughly unlikeable character. At ThriftBooks, our motto is: Read More, Spend Less. The first novel I struggled to finish but this one at times I couldn't get myself to put it down. This new edition is illustrated with historical photographs and a new format.
Guinevere and the lady of the lake, to protect the relic, asked Lancelot to take it away from Avalon and hide it so that monks can't find it and that's how Christians are convinced the Grail is lost and has to be found. Lo peor, es que los personajes son muy aburridos y lastimeros, no parecen desenvolverse mucho, de hecho no hay un personaje que realmente tenga fuerza en la historia. A bleak shadow falls again across —and across the sacred isle of , where priests threaten the life of the Lady herself. I read it just as quickly, and loved it! Still, Guenevere secretly mourns the loss of her beloved Lancelot, who has returned to the Sacred Lake of his boyhood, hoping to restore his faith in chivalry in the place where he learned to be a knight. So in some ways I don't like and don't enjoy this story - for me the good guys are the Goddess worshippers and I don't want the bad guys to win. Von Vereinigtes Königreich nach Deutschland Beschreibung: -. Lancelot travels to visit the Lady of the Sacred Lake, sister to the Lady of Avalon and Lancelot's foster mother. There have been many heroes, but no heroines. Miles does an excellent job of protraying the emotions and feelings of the characters as they struggle against the age old question of passion versus honor. Morgan Le Fay, now the mother of Arthur's only son, Mordred, has become the focus of Merlin's age-old quest to ensure the survival of the house of Pendragon.
While many vessels were claimed to have been the true Grail, there was only one thought to have been the chalice used by Mary. Lancelot is still a tasty dish, but there is no apparent reason why he would love a bitter, jealous, middle-aged woman who repeatedly casts him away. The knight of the sacred lake book read 45 reviews from the worlds largest community for readers in the eagerly anticipated follow up to miless bests. It was then smuggled from Rome in 410 A. There doesn't actually seem to be anything new brought to the legend by this story. It feels a bit like when you read or see Romeo and Juliet - you keep hoping somehow the end will be different, and you know it won't, but have to keep slogging through to the tragic end anyway. The story continues to be predictable, especially with regard to the Arthurian myth, but I'm quite enjoying the subplot, about Avalon's relics that the Roman Church wants to steal and take for themselves as the Holy Relics of Christ. To view it, I really enjoyed this book, it had a completely different tone from the first novel which made it highly enjoyable. At ThriftBooks, our motto is: Read More, Spend Less.
It's been a while since I've read a fantasy book, and I am really enjoying it. While they were still loving, passion had taken a back seat in their relationship. It kind of undermines that anyway with how whiny Guenevere is a lot of the time. He suspects that Lamorak has more influence over his mother than he does, and that he uses that influence to cuckold his late father. Morgan remains the only interesting character, Merlin appears to be lost through the entire book, Arthur seems a puppet who's only there because a king was needed for this story, Guinevere and Lancelot are annoying to no end. The first novel I struggled to finish but this one at times I couldn't get myself to put it down. She knew that in order to do that, she had to put aside her budding affair with Lancelot and focus on Arthur and ruling the country. I admit I am quite excited for the next book because Mordred doesn't seem like clichey-evil and he instead seems very fond of Arthur. As Guenevere, accused of murder and witchcraft by the Christians, who scorn the old ways of the goddess, is put on trial, Merlin travels the land in search of Mordred, and Arthur is grievously wounded by a knight serving Morgan.
As High King and Queen, Arthur and Guenevere reign supreme across the many kingdoms of Great Britain. This book is in good condition but will show signs of previous ownership.
