Not a lot happens, but the scenery is lovingly described and she and her family obviously love the new life. Whereas the first book focuses more of just arriving in Cornwall and getting to know the locals and their way of life, this book is more about being settled in the community, but trying to embrace the Cornish way of life more, which also includes having hens, vegetable growing, foraging, living a more humble life and a very cute, but cheeky baby seagull. The vegetables will have to wait until I have more time, energy and motivation to face that challenge again. Just maintaining our garden is such hard work with all the brambles and nettles that insist on constantly taking over and attacking us each time we try to get rid of them. The pace is as slow as the tide, piqued with the odd gentle caper. .

The first book sold over 6,000 copies in hardcover and is rapidly becoming a must-read book for all those who hanker for an escape to the country. And I have grown potatoes. Dimension: 198 x 129 x 17. Having given up a high-powered job and the lifestyle to match, Tessa Hainsworth had no idea how hard she would struggle when, full of optimism, she fulfilled her dream of moving to rural Cornwall with her young family one September. The first book sold over 6,000 copies in hardcover and is rapidly becoming a must-read book for all those who hanker for an escape to the country. She finds the fun and resilience to turn all the hardships to her advantage. She muddles through only with the generous help of the 'customers' on her postal round.

But a chance encounter in the local post office leads her to accept the unlikeliest of job offers — as a postwoman. It seems travelling a whole six miles to Truro is somewhat of an extravagant adventure for these parts. This is the second instalment of Tessa Hainsworth's escape from the rat-race with her actor husband to a Cornish seaside town. This was a fun, easy read that had me giggling in places, and even tears in my eyes at one point. Really well written and well researched.

Her first book should be read before this one; it does help to do so. If she had, she would know that seagulls do not get glossy grey feathers so soon, they are brown speckled all summer long as 'teenagers'. Well, regardless of what it really is meant to be, as a book, as a story it is not that engaging. But trouble is waiting just around the corner. Life is becoming hard for her and her family as they realise that being part of a small community is not quite the idyll she had been lead to believe, as lack of money and the demands of family life take their toll. But, as with the first book, Tessa finds the fun and resilience to turn all the hardships to her advantage - eventually. Non-fiction but reads as good as any novel.

They eat leafage, they are not worms. Suitable for those who hanker for an escape to the country. Tessa learns how to forage for food around in the wild land and on other folks properties, like sorrel, wild garlic and nettles. Fantastic I have listened to Up with the Larks and loved it, and was not disappointed in Seagulls in the Attic. Life is becoming hard for her and her family as they realise that being part of a small community is not quite the idyll she had been lead to believe, as lack of money and the demands of family life take their toll. Set in one of the most beautiful Counties in England, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the 3rd and final instalment.

Seagulls in the Attic: Making a New Life in Cornwall by Tessa Hainsworth

All the locals tell her not to because apparently gulls are a nuisance but she is obstinate anyway and nothing good or bad comes of it. In Seagulls in the Attic Tessa is now a pillar of the community, or so she thinks. You can unsubscribe from email notifications or unfollow this blog at any time by following the links in the email. But he is also a certified therapist as well as a good cook. A very pleasant read and gives you lifestyle envy, but her fasination with foraging remains a total no for me! Seagulls in the Attic, Tessa Hainsworth

About the Author Tessa Hainsworth worked as a marketing manager at The Body Shop. Her initial delight now has to be tempered with the reality of financial downsizing and learning a whole new way of living. Tessa is bubbly, outgoing - but quite inexperienced at being a landlady. Tessa is a postwoman, but it's not like any other postal service. It's just that it feels so much like a slice of an everyday ordinary Brit life where someone migrates from city to country for a slice of that promised old world charm and some of the challenges encountered But unlike chic-lit, there is no growth in the drama and challenges building towards an end. The E-mail message field is required. Life is becoming hard for her and her family as they realise that being part of a small community is not quite the idyll she had been lead to believe, as lack of money and the demands of family life take their toll.

Life is becoming hard for her and her family as they realise that being part of a small community is not quite the idyll she had been lead to believe, as lack of money and the demands of family life take their toll. Hubby trying to find his place still but not that happy but pretending to be for her sake. In fact I am putting off listening to Home to Roost because I don't want them to be over! I have never in my life heard or seen a slug inside a potato!!!! Then this is the right book for you As for the title, it is but one of the incidents occurring in the narrative.
